Identify vegetables that make sense to grow on small acreage, including under high and low tunnel season extension.
- Joshua Vrooman, Agriculture Educator for CCE Oswego County, will discuss how small farms are best positioned for sales that are directed towards local consumers, retailers, and institutions.
- Judson Reid, Cornell Vegetable Program Specialist, will highlight crops best grown under high tunnels.
- Robert Hadad, Cornell Vegetable Program Specialist, will cover field crops and low tunnel season extension. Other considerations will include site selection, pest management, and other good agricultural practices.
Afterwards, Bill Ingersoll, owner of Ingersoll Farms, will provide a short tour and discuss other important factors of running a mixed vegetable farm, including a farm stand and selling at farmers' markets.
Free to attend, but pre-registration is required. Register online. For more information: Joshua Vrooman, jwv33@cornell.edu or 315-963-7286 ext. 200
