Fresh Market Vegetable Twilight Meeting in Eden

Come join the Cornell Vegetable Program Extension team and Cornell faculty to learn about exciting on-farm research projects and pest updates in fresh market vegetables.

•  Tour the Eastern Broccoli Project variety trials and hear from Thomas Bjorkman, Associate Professor Horticulture, and Christy Hoepting of the Cornell Vegetable Program

•  View a novel mechanical option for bird control and hear preliminary results on management options for bird control in sweet corn from Cornell Vegetable Program Specialists Darcy Telenko and Robert Hadad

•  Join Cornell University Plant Pathologists, Christine Smart and Sarah Pethybridge, on a crop walk to talk about major vegetable diseases and research updates

•  The CVP team will also lead discussions on other big pest problems of the season including weed and insect issues

•  Megan Burley, Farm Business Management Educator with CCE Erie County, will give an update on the pilot program, Refugee On-site Occupational Training (ROOT)

•  Sarah Johnston, Organic & Risk Mgt Specialist with NYS Dept of Agriculture & Markets, will discuss risk management and insurance options for crops and whole farm.
