Fresh Market Vegetable Twilight Meeting in Eden

Come join the Cornell Vegetable Program Extension team and Cornell faculty to learn about exciting on-farm research projects and pest updates in fresh market vegetables.

 Tour the Eastern Broccoli Project variety trials and hear from Thomas Bjorkman, Associate Professor Horticulture, and Christy Hoepting of the Cornell Vegetable Program

 View a novel mechanical option for bird control and hear preliminary results on management options for bird control in sweet corn from Cornell Vegetable Program Specialists Darcy Telenko and Robert Hadad

 Join Cornell University Plant Pathologists, Christine Smart and Sarah Pethybridge, on a crop walk to talk about major vegetable diseases and research updates

 The CVP team will also lead discussions on other big pest problems of the season including weed and insect issues

 Megan Burley, Farm Business Management Educator with CCE Erie County, will give an update on the pilot program, Refugee On-site Occupational Training (ROOT)

 Sarah Johnston, Organic & Risk Mgt Specialist with NYS Dept of Agriculture & Markets, will discuss risk management and insurance options for crops and whole farm.
