Erie County Beginning Farmer Discussion Group: Vegetable Farming 101

April 12, 2018

Erie County Beginning Farmer Discussion Group: Vegetable Farming 101

Join a group of beginning farmers at CCE Erie to learn the basics of vegetable farming. Darcy Telenko, Fresh Market Vegetable Specialist for the Cornell Vegetable Program, will discuss soil testing, growing vegetables using plastic mulch, and weed and disease management.

The Beginning Farmer Discussion Group is a series of new farmer-focused informal workshops and there is no cost to attend. Hopefully, the result of these meetings will be an improved collaboration between farmers. Perhaps some new joint projects will form to improve individual farm successes. Above all, this should be an enjoyable, fun experience! Anne Tryjankowsi, Owner of Polish Roots Natural Farm and former Beginning Farmer Discussion Group participant shared, "When I began attending the Beginning Farmer Discussion Group I was interested in the concept of farming but had no idea where to begin. These workshops were the perfect place to start."
