This course will present information on insect and disease management in fresh market vegetables in both field and greenhouse (high tunnel) vegetables, primarily for those growing for wholesale auction. Grafting, biological, and where appropriate, conventional spray options will be discussed. A portion of the meeting will include irrigation and soil nutrient management applicable to all farmers. One general session will include updates from the Food Safety Modernization Act. 

High Tunnel Winter Greens Workshop

In recent years, the apple leafcurling midge (ALCM) has become an increasingly problematic pest in many orchards across the northeast. Due to its small size and tendency to damage the newest terminal growth, growers often don't notice there is a problem until it is too late to manage effectively. In this webinar, Kristy Grigg-McGuffin (Horticulture IPM Specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agricultural, Food, and Rural Affairs) will discuss Ontario's experience with ALCM, including its biology, monitoring, biological control, and chemical management.

2023 NYS Dry Bean Meeting and Cutting Event

The NYS Dry Bean Meeting is back in person this year, and will be paired with the annual Dry Bean Cutting Event! The morning meeting will include presentations on the latest dry bean research in New York, with topics including market updates, white mold management, western bean cutworm and soybean cyst nematode management, dry bean variety testing, and incorporating NY dry beans into schools. 2.0 DEC credits will be available.

The Dry Bean Cutting will follow the meeting and showcase the canned dry beans from the 2022 Dry Bean Variety Trial.
