This training is geared toward certification categories 1A (agricultural plant), 21 (field and forage), 22 (fruit), and 23 (vegetable).

If your farm revenue is $350,000 or less and you have at least three years of farm financial records (tax returns with revenue and expenses from farming) you are likely to be eligible for a crop insurance program through USDA-RMA called Whole Farm Revenue Micro-Farm Crop Insurance. This crop insurance product insures farm revenue, is heavily subsidized by USDA and requires much less recordkeeping than other insurance programs. Liz Higgins will walk you through this insurance program, show you how it differs from the NAP program (offered by USDA-FSA) and can help you evaluate whether or not it makes sense for your farm business.

The NYS Dry Bean Meeting will be paired with the annual Dry Bean Cutting Event again this year! The morning meeting will include presentations on the latest dry bean research in New York, with topics including market updates, white mold management, western bean cutworm management, dry bean variety testing, and incorporating NY dry beans into schools. 1.5 DEC credits will be available in categories 10, 1a, 21, 23. CCA credits will be available too.

Spring started earlier than usual in some parts of New York's fruit production regions, and CCE is taking a proactive approach to get information on frost protection and its science out to NY fruit growers. There have been some advances in frost protection in recent years, along with promising ongoing research. We will be having a Cornell Statewide Frost Protection Webinar with several Cornell scientists and an invited speaker next week. Growers will have plenty of time to ask questions during this very informative webinar as apple trees continue advancing their bud phenology.
